This potential for Apple to make it happen has been known for along time. Apple is best suited to dominate the consumer side armed with the iPhone and iTunes. But the biggest challenge will be to conquer the merchant by showing them win-win proposition. Unfortunately Apple has been known for not bending their ego and selling their bundle at a high price. Jobs was able to twist the top execs of the Music industry with iTunes. But the merchant community is a whole different story.
Keep it simple and lean Apple (and cheaper). That should do the trick.
